Blogging, Funk13, News, Thoughts

3 months of blogging and I’m still here. I’m very pleased with myself too, because some blogs don’t even make it out of their first month. Why? Because those poor souls greedy idiots are only in it for the money. Don’t get me wrong, I started blogging to get rich quick too, but luckily I realized that it wasn’t going to happen. Between me and you, I haven’t really tried to make money yet. And no! I’m not just saying that. :) I’ve experimented and had some small successes and I’ve experimented and failed, but I can honestly say I haven’t fully committed myself to something yet.

Big Fat Failure!
Failing, depending on what type of person you are? Can make or break your blog. What do I mean by that? Well, some people take failure badly. Once they’ve failed and their money making dreams have been thrown down the toilet, there’s no need for them to go on. Money was in control of them, it was keeping their dreams alive, but now because of tight fisted Google AdSense only making them $1.03 that month! That money buzz has been destroyed and so has the passion for blogging. Definitely a broken blog. :( I personally have enjoyed failing. :) Failing has taught me so much. I’ve learned a hell of a lot more discovering what went wrong, rather than sitting their flexing my muscles in the mirror just because I made $50 from a few EBook sales. If I can start using what I’ve learned from my adventures properly, my blog might just make it out there.

Here’s what’s failed for me so far:

funkreviews.com - A blog I set up to take advantage of sponsored reviews. I simply lost interest in it. I was only after money so the blog was rubbish and it failed miserably. About Funk Reviews

Affiliate Marketing - After stupidly reading and believing in a 4 year old EBook about selling EBooks, I thought I would kick ass and make a fortune. How wrong was I. Affiliate Marketing Adventure

Getting greedy with Freelancing I jumped rite in to the deep end and started advertising cheap web graphics all over the internet. I couldn’t cope. Kill customer Frenzy

My Successes
Success for me isn’t money related just yet. My successes are when people leave a comment, send me an email or subscribe to my rss. I have earned money through this blog, I’ve made a few dollars off referral links, a few cents of Google Adsense but most of my income has been coming in from freelancing work which I secured by advertising away from this blog. I suppose if I’d sold out and started using pay per post and sponsored reviews my income would have been a lot better. But I didn’t want to get bitch slapped by Google. :(

Plans for the future
The next 3 months should be fun. I’m almost ready to launch my CMS Showcase site cmsnerd.com. I’m also going to starting giving this blog as much exposure as possible. Paid advertising is definitely something I’m going to be looking in to. If you fancy doing me a deal? I’m all ears. :) Making Money from this blog still isn’t really an option yet. I’m still focusing on growing my readership and increasing my traffic. A month or so ago I was on page 90 of Google for Make Money Blogging. Now I’m on page 10. So that’s another area I’m going to be working on. I’m also trying to get a Google PR :) I think the goals I’m setting myself for the next 3 month are realistic. If I put the effort in I’m sure I’ll make it. :)

Very nice article! I’m glad you are blogging with pride and not selling your soul to those PPP sites. My blog is reaching its first anniversary in June, and I hope it will stay alive as long as I’m still breathing. My love for Newcastle United is till I die!

I also trying to get back my PR3 that has been slapped with no reason, I didn’t do PPP, but maybe it’s because I’m changing my server so there were alot of not found page and url when google do crawling my old url’s. Nevermind, I’m still love to continue blogging about something that I know very well and love it so much :)

Keep up the good work mate! Your blog design is very good now, I love this version much-much better than your old one :)
