Adsense

I wish!I’ve been looking around different blogs and websites trying to find decent ways to earn a few honest $$. Obviously I’m not expecting to make millions. I just want to make enough to cover hosting expenses each month. Anything else I make after that would be a bonus. Anyway, after a couple of hours of lurking around different blogs. It seems that Google Adsense is the best way for me to go.

In internet money land, Adsense seems to be getting a bit of a mixed response. Some people say it’s old, boring, ruins the look of you pages and hardly ever gets clicks. Then you see pictures of people holding up cheques for hundreds of thousands of dollars. I guess it’s all down to personal preference. Ha, I even read one post where a blogger thinks you should scrap advertisements all together. He basically says your blog will never make you money. I hope I can prove him wrong.

Anyway, I’ve placed quite a big 300×250 adsense banner on the right side of my site. I’m going to give it a run for a few months. If it doesn’t work it doesn’t work. I’ll just switch from adsense to something else. I’m in no rush.

Welcome to blogging! Just a suggestion: If you’re interested in finding honest, tasteful ways to make some money blogging, you might want to subscribe to some of the better blogs that advise on ways to treat blogging as a business. Not the scammy sites that promise the sun, moon, and stars — just the sites that advise you on practical ways to manage your ads and other businessy aspects of blogging. Some I like are:

    http://www.joostdevalk.nl/

And there’s a nice one that keeps me up on new WordPress plugins and themes:

    Good luck! :o)
