Funk13 never started life as a blog, it was intended to be a website dedicated to all things dance music. After realizing I wouldn’t be able to compete with sites such as beatportal, I forgot about building websites and went back to simply browsing the internet. Then one day, I accidentally came across bloggernoob. A blog about trying to make money online. After reading this blog for a few weeks, I decided to come back to Funk13 with aim of trying to make money online myself. Funk13 is now the home of all my online money making projects. I share with my readers my thoughts, what I’m up to, what’s failed for me, what’s worked and I give general advice on WordPress, Blogging and Make Money Online.
Jan 2008
- Work started on a new online dance music magazine. Just 3 weeks in, I realize I’m going to struggle in this area as it’s dominated by BeatPortal and a few other sites with huge financial backing.
- Funk13 is scrapped and completely forgotten about.
Feb 2008
- I discover blogs and I take a particular interest in the Make Money Online area.
- Funk13 is born
- I realize that blogging isn’t easy as it looks, I spend nearly all of February learning about SEO and link building. I also spend a lot of time on sites such as Entrecard promoting Funk13 as much as possible.
March 2008
- I start experimenting with affiliate marketing, after creating an eBay affiliate store and making absolutely nothing, I decide to focus strictly on my blog. I’m also starting to notice that my traffic is increasing by the day and I now have a few loyal readers.
- At the end of March I start advertising my services as a freelance graphics designer. I make a decent amount of money by doing this but it starts to take it’s toll on my blog. I pull the plug on this project after only 4 days. I now create web graphics for people if they contact me via Funk13.
