I’ve signed up for all the social networking/bookmarking sites that I like. Technorati, Entrecard, StumbleUpon and Blogcatalog. And I must admit, it’s true what they tell you. These sites will bring you traffic. But I’m still not happy, I want more traffic. Am I greedy? I don’t think I am. I don’t think anybody in a perfect state of mind would be upset if they managed to drive another X amount of visitors to their blog. Why blog if you don’t want maximum exposure? So, on my quest for maximum exposure, one area I’ve been looking at is guest posting. I’ve been looking over lots and lots of blogs, trying to find reasons why I should try guest posting. Here’s the best ones I found.
- You’re exposing your blog
- You can expect a boost of traffic
They both Sound like a good enough reasons to guest post. But how long does the exposure last? Is all this traffic likely to stick around? I think the main reason I’m a bit unsure of trying guest posting is, I don’t really like the idea of providing another blog with content. My blog is still very new. My blog needs all of the content it can get. But then again, who said you have to guest post inside your own niche? Ha, my guest post might not even get published. I think that would be the worst thing.
I think I’m looking at the negatives to much here, 5 minutes of exposure is better than none. So, if I was to try a guest post, I think I’d have to submit one to any of the bigger blogs out there. That way I know I stand a better chance of people reading my post and visiting my blog. But, that’s only if it gets published. One of the hardest things about guest posting on the bigger blogs is finding something to post about. I’ve looked through numerous guest posts on JohnCow, I think everything has been covered twice over.
Ah what the hell. I think I might give it a try. There’s no harm in testing something out is there? If it works it works. And if it doesn’t, it’s not like it’s cost me anything.

Nice Blog!
I will be back again. About Guest Posting, I was going to do it and I did start and have one published, but I think the best way to get traffic is article marketing instead of guest posting because you will get traffic from outside sources instead of the blog crowd, although I am sure you want both types of traffic. Just my two cents.

Yeah, I’m definitely going to try both of those.

You should definitely try your hand at guest posting. I’ve sent out several guest posts while on spring break, because it is much more than “5 minutes of exposure” unless the blog you are guest posting on takes it down or disappears. I’ve also found guest posting is the perfect opportunity to try out post ideas that might not work out on my blog. Just make sure your guest post has YOUR voice, and it’s usually a good idea to try to get a guest spot on a blog slightly larger than yours

I think I will definitely give it a shot. I’ve already have a few ideas noted down, I’m also thinking about guest posting in other areas away from the whole money side of things.
