My blog is now 30 days old and I can finally submit it to a few of the pay per post networks out there. I’ve been looking forward to doing paid reviews for a while now, but I didn’t know until yesterday, Google are totally against pay per post bloggers. Now, if I was to stick to my original plan, Pay Per Post Project and not use Funk13 for paid reviews, then the whole problem of Google not giving me a PR wouldn’t bother me. But because I now have a new idea for blog I originally created to post Paid Reviews on. I’m unsure about what I should do. I can either be a good little boy, keep Google happy by avoiding paid reviews and hope I someday get a good PageRank. Or, I can simply stick 2 fingers up to PageRank and hopefully start earning a little money. So what do I do?
O.k, that was easy. Pay per post it is. It’s not because of the money though, it’s entirely down to my own principals. Why should I let Google tell me what I can and can’t publish on my blog? Sometimes I’m convinced Google are trying to take over the world! Anyway, lets look at what I’m going to be missing out on, now that I’ve crossed over to the dark side.
Benefits of PageRank?
I’ve been searching Google for at least 10 minutes looking for reasons why I should hold on to the chance of getting a page rank. It’s not looking good for Google, because I haven’t found any yet. Actually, I did find one reason. It says my search engine results will be affected. But I know this isn’t true. I know of a couple of blogs who use pay per post networks, have no PR and yet they are on page one of Google and they’re using highly competitive keywords such as money and blog. So, there’s no need to worry about that. Ah, there’s actually 1 more reason PR might be good. Lets say I wanted to sell Funk13, the higher my PR is the higher the price would be. But I’m never going to sell Funk13! So there’s no need to worry about that one either.
Benefits of Pay Per Post?
Well this is a much easier question to answer. If I’m accepted, I might actually start earning a little bit of money. I did mention in a previous post, money wasn’t my main objective, but when you think about it, writing reviews is part of the blogging lifestyle. Some people are lucky enough to be able to cut out the middle man, Cow and Chow for example. Maybe sometime in the future people will come to me directly for a review? who knows? Anyway, any money that I do make will go towards a few blog improvements. I need a few tweaks made to this theme, I need a new host and I’ll probably use some for contests.
Lets hope I get accepted now. ![]()

You should never say that you made your blog just for posting paid blog entries- it is against payperpost terms of service. You might want to edit those bits out of your blog.
Also, ironically, pay per post limits the paid blog posts that you can do based on your pagerank. They are doing away with that, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.
For the time being, advertisers who pay for sidebar backlinks use pagerank to determine how much you get paid per link per month. Since google drops the PR of blogs that sell links, this may change soon as well.

Sly - I never made my second blog purely for ppp, I made it so I had somewhere to write ppp’s. I didn’t want to miss out on that small, but worth while regular income ppp can bring. I can see what you’re saying and I will ‘’slightly” make a couple of changes. Thx.
Rambler - Hi mate.
Thx for the kind comment.

I tried PPP for a while, but the oppertunities didn’t suit me or my blog at all, so I removed it form my blog. I’m sure there would have been better oppertunities available to me if I had started the program with a page rank, but it wasn’t to be. They weren’t really relevant enough to my theme in any case. Good luck with it!

Ferox - Yeah but because google have stopped ranking ppp blogs I’m pretty sure ppp have a new way of defining who gets what opportunities.
I wouldn’t worry about keep the posts within your theme. I don’t think I’ve seen a blog with paid posts on that are all about the blogs topic. I guess it’s a personal choice though.
Thx for the comment

Hi! I write for PPP, and recently had a huge discussion on my blog about whether it was a good idea or not. I started PPP when I had no PR, then it went up to PR3, but then back to no PR. No problem. I kept writing, and I kept everything within the theme of my blog (you have to be creative…my blog is about writing and my personal life to some extent, so I just wrote about how the product would work with writing/freelancing).
But just the other day, I got a PR2. So I think this whole Google scare is a joke. Do your own thing and make that money. Even with no PR I made a little over $50 in a month, and I could have made more if I’d been able to figure out how to work more of the items into my theme.
Your Alexa and PPP’s “Real Rank” make a difference too. Most of my posts were at least $12-$15.
Check out my story on my blog, and good luck!

Great stuff.
That’s the first time I’ve heard someone getting a pr while doing ppp
I guess keeping on the topic of your blog helps? I’ll take a look at your blog now.
Thx for the comment.

With the new Google bullying, using Payperpost is very difficult. Most of the posting opportunities on PPP is dependant on your blogs’ PR.
However, if you are a member of Payperpost, Google strips you of your right to have any PR.
It’s pretty much a catch 22. Google slammed PPP hard. My guess is Google is planning on rolling out something similar and is getting rid of the competition before it starts.
Or maybe I’m just a conspiracy nut.

You know, that could be the reason behind them kicking ppp ass.
I’ve just been accepted in to ppp, I’m not to sure I want to take part anymore lol.

I haven’t considered PPP very seriously, not yet anyway. If I can build my blog readership big enough to count, I figure I can monetize with ads the normal way. Also I will solicit donations then. But at the moment I’m not in a hurry to monetize my barely-existent traffic. I’d rather get a viral effect going from high quality content, you know?

Luke - Yes, I understand what you’re saying. I’m now having second thoughts about ppp. Flooding my blog with rubbish just for sake of a few dollars each post is starting to put me off. I have another blog which I think would be perfect for ppp, I just need to work on it some more and it should get accepted.
Like you, I’m not in any real hurry to monetize anymore. I guess ppp just sounded easy at first.
